High-Traffic Waterfront Boardwalk Project in Southeast Asia: 1,500+ Sqm 1st Gen WPC Decking Installation
-
Location: Jakarta, Indonesia
-
Product Applied: 1st Generation Hollow WPC Decking (140x23mm Profile)
-
Total Volume: 1,500+ Square Meters
Project Background & Customer Challenges
The project was located in a high-humidity, high-traffic commercial waterfront zone in North Jakarta, Indonesia. The client faced critical challenges that traditional timber could not solve:
-
Severe Weather Exposure: The flooring would be constantly exposed to intense tropical UV rays, high seasonal rainfall, and corrosive saltwater mist.
-
Budget Constraints vs. Durability: As a massive public-facing project, the client required a highly budget-friendly material but refused to compromise on structural safety and long-term durability.
-
High Shipping & Handling Costs: With volatile shipping markets, the client needed to optimize their purchasing volume to fit exactly into their container budget without paying for wasted space.
Our Technical & Custom Solutions
As a direct-source manufacturer, our engineering and export teams provided a fully customized, "One-Stop" technical package:
-
Tailored Material Engineering: Analyzing their budget, we recommended our high-performance 1st Generation 140x23mm hollow decking profile. We maintained a strict technical tolerance of Δ E < 0.5 across the entire 1,500 sqm production run, ensuring absolute color consistency from the first board to the last. The formulation was also engineered to meet B1 Fire Retardant standards, passing local public safety compliance checks effortlessly.
-
Zero-Waste Length Customization: Standard lengths would have resulted in heavy on-site cutting waste. We customized the production length to 2.9 meters per piece, which perfectly matched the boardwalk's structural joist spacing and maximized the internal space of the shipping containers.
-
One-Stop Finishing Accessories: To speed up construction, we supplied a one-stop finishing solution. We bundled the decking with matching heavy-duty WPC joists, starter clips, and hidden stainless-steel fasteners, allowing the local installation team to achieve a completely seamless architectural look without any visible top-screws or uneven gaps.
Logistics & Container Loading Optimization
To lower the client's ocean freight cost per square meter, our logistics department utilized our high-density palletized packaging system. By packing the 2.9m customized boards tightly on heavy-duty pallets, we achieved a high loading capacity, packing the entire project into just 3x40'HQ containers (averaging over 4,820 sqm capacity scaling for our standard line), effectively eliminating the need for an expensive fourth container.
The Results & Customer Feedback
The boardwalk has withstood heavy foot traffic and coastal weather exposure with flawless results:
-
Zero Warping or Cracking: Thanks to precise mold development and balanced wood-plastic ratios, the panels show zero dimensional movement.
-
Easy Maintenance: The commercial cleaning crew only requires regular water-hosing to keep the boardwalk looking brand new—saving the client thousands of dollars in annual sanding and oiling costs compared to real wood.
-
Contractor Testimony: "The 2.9m custom length saved our workers nearly 15% in installation time, and the color matching across all three containers was absolutely perfect. Dealing directly with the source factory made our logistics seamless."
